Seasonal Reports

In the spring of 2004, the TOS Executive Board decided to publish the unabridged seasonal reports prepared for North American Birds magazine. Each issue of the magazine includes articles on rare bird trends, articles on specific rarities, such as first North American records, and a rare bird photo gallery. The “regions” used for the North American Birds magazine are biological regions in Texas. They don’t exactly match the TOS “regions”, but the information is still interesting and useful for those wanting to understand the distribution of birds in the state. For convenience, we have attempted to align the reports with the TOS regions.
These Regional Reports are now being housed online on the American Birding Association website here:

For about three years, publication of reports unfortunately ceased altogether due to staffing and management issues at the journal. This led to over a hundred reports piling up and others understandably not being written at all. Between September 2020 and March 2021, all of these reports were published. Thus the reports for Texas reflect data only through 2021, though some other regions have more recent information.
